Remington 11-87 Shotgun Product Information

The Remington Model 11-87 (sometimes misspelled as 1187) was announced in the year 1987 as an improved and strengthened version of the Remington model 1100 shotgun. The new model is technically similar to its predecessor but is stronger because it is intended to fire 3" (76 mm) magnum shells. Both model 1100 and 11-87 are manufactured in parallel, and at the present time (end of 2002) Remington catalog list about 20 hunting variants of the Model 11-87 plus at least four Police / Tactical models. These Police / Tactical models differ from the hunting and sporting guns by having black parkerized finish, polymer only stocks, relatively short barrels and rifle-type sights (with blade front and open or ghost-ring rear). Most Police / Tactical models are equipped with magazine extension tube by standard. All 11-87 shotguns are fitted with rubber recoil pads on the buttstocks to decrease felt recoil. It is slightly heavier than model 1100 shotgun, and offers bigger effective range and bigger firepower due to the more powerful Magnum ammunition it fired, but it comes at the price of the stronger felt recoil. Remington model 11-87 tactical shotguns are widely used by the Law Enforcement and even some military forces in the USA and worldwide.

Remington 11-87 is a gas operated, semi-automatic, magazine fed shotgun. It is very similar to the model 1100 but some parts, including barrels, ARE NOT interchangeable between models 1100 and 11-87. Gas cylinder is located around the front part of the magazine tube. Annular gas piston is linked to the action by two action bars. The barrel locking is achieved by the single locking piece, tilting in the vertical plane and engaging the slot in the barrel extension when locked. To unlock the barrel, this locking piece is cammed down and then bolt is retracted by the gas drive, to eject a spent case and to feed a fresh cartridge from the underbarrel tube magazine. Remington 11-87 has a bolt catch which locks the bolt in the open position if the magazine is empty. The magazine is loaded through the opening at the bottom of the receiver, and spent cases are ejected through the window at the right side of the receiver. Cocking handle is located at the right side and is mounted on the bolt. The model 11-87 can be equipped with different types of sights (standard shotgun bead type, rifle-type open sights, rifle type ghost ring (diopter) sight) and with different stocks made from wood or plastic. Various accessories, such as tactical lights, laser aiming devices and scope mounts, also available.

Trijicon's technologically advanced Reflex sights offer shooters the perfect combination of speed and precision under virtually any lighting conditions. The Trijicon advantage includes, a bright aiming point in low light, no light or bright light. The recticle in all Reflex models is dual-illuminated by both fiber optics and tritium, guaranteeing shooters a bright, clearly defined aiming point without a dependence on unreliable, failure-prone batteries. The tritium provides illumination at night or in a dimly lit room, while the fiber optics system automatically controls the brightness of the recticle in all other light conditions. Quick target acquisition and pinpoint accuracy. Trijicon's high visibility amber triangle reticle provides the speen of a red dot with the precision of crosshairs. Aligning the target with the tip of the triangle is extremely fast and it minimizes target obstruction. Trijicon also offers three optional reticle designs: A traditional aiming dot in a larger size for quick target acquisition, a smaller dot for finer target positioning, an exclusive chevron shaped reticle.

The both eyes-open advantage. The Trijicon Reflex sight permits the option of aiming with both eyes open, which aids the human sence of balance, provides a wider field of view and ensures extremely fast target acquisition. Both-eyes-open shooting is a criticle feature for soldiers, police, police tacticle officers, hunters and competition shooters who must engage moving targets very quickly.

Kel-Tec has just significantly upped the ante in the small-and-light pistol market by introducing virtually the same little P32 chambered for the larger .380 Auto cartridge. The new gun is called the P3AT, and is almost the same size and weight as the original P32. The .380 is minutely larger and just over a half ounce heavier then the .32 pistol. The .380 is 7.2 ounce, while the .32 is 6.6 ounce. Frame width for the .380 is 0.798", the .32 is 0.765", Barrel length on the .380 is 2.745", and the .32 is 2.675". The recoil of the .380 is, while noticeable more than the .32, quite controllable and not painful at all. Rapidly firing the .380 until empty, it is easy to keep all shots centered on a standard silhouette target at fifteen yards.

With most states passing right-to-carry laws, more and more people are buying small, easily concealable handguns. Many people, however, start out with a gun that is too large or too heavy to carry all of the time, and end up with the handgun that is not always within reach. The PLR-16 is a gas operated, semi-automatic pistol chambered in 5.56mm(.223 cal) NATO calibur. It was designed as and is intended as a long-range target and hunting pistol. The PLR-16 has a conventional gas piston operation and utilizes the proven M-16 breech locking system. The rear sight is adjustable for windage. The front sight is of M-16 type. An intergrated MIL-STD-1913 picatinny rail will accept a multitude of standard accessories. The muzzle end of the barrel is threaded 1/2" - 28 to accept standard attachments such as a muzzle brake. Except for the barrel, bolt, sights, and mechanism, the PLR-16 pistol is made entirely of high-impact glass fiber reinforced polymer.

The PLR-16 pistol comes blued, with one 10 round magazine, and includes a gun lock.
